Vinyl Siding
The workhorse. Modern insulated vinyl holds colour far better than the products that gave vinyl its reputation, and it is the best value per square foot in this market.
Nothing changes how a house looks faster than new siding — and nothing protects the structure behind it more directly.
Siding is the rare renovation that is both cosmetic and structural. It is the single largest surface a visitor sees, so replacing it changes the character of the house completely. It is also the barrier keeping water off your sheathing, and once that barrier fails the damage happens quietly inside the wall where nobody looks.
Most of the failures we open up are not the siding itself. They are the details around it — housewrap lapped the wrong way, no flashing over a window head, caulk used where a piece of metal belonged. Those shortcuts are invisible on day one and expensive in year six.
We install the wall as a system: proper housewrap, head flashing at every opening, correct fastening so panels can expand and contract, and trim that sheds water instead of holding it.

James Hardie and equivalent. Heavier, more durable, holds paint beautifully, and reads as a premium product on the higher-value homes we work on.
Gable accents, shake courses, and board-and-batten to break up large elevations and give a flat facade some depth.
Almost always replaced with siding. Rotted fascia is where gutters pull away from the house.
Aluminum-wrapped or composite trim at windows, doors and corners so you are not painting them again in three years.
We open the wall, replace what is damaged, and photograph it before it disappears behind the new siding.
It depends on the square footage of wall, the material, how much trim and soffit work is included, and whether there is rot to repair. We measure and give you a written, itemised estimate for free.
Vinyl is the better value and modern products are genuinely good. Fiber-cement costs more, lasts longer, holds paint, and generally suits higher-value homes where the look matters most. We will show you both on your own house before you decide.
Occasionally, but we usually advise against it for the same reason we advise against roof layovers — it hides what is underneath. Removing the old siding is how you find and fix rot before it becomes structural.
Insulated siding helps, but the honest answer is that attic insulation and air sealing return more per dollar. If energy cost is your main goal, start with insulation.
Most homes take three to five working days depending on size, weather, and how much trim and rot repair is involved.
